Milan milan solo con te. Milan milan sempre per te.

Our friend Irakli Kiziria shared some of his favorites from the Salone Internazionale de Mobile. His standout fave was Martin Margiela. You may know that Margiela has a sweet cooperation with Diesel. These pics are from the press pack. Table legs as tables, shelving brackets as shelving, doors as carpets. Despite everthing being white, it looks far from sterile, and mostly avoids the furniture barn or haunted house look.

I liked his Kartell pics, as I usually find what they do to be very playful. Various characters were printed on thick plush carpet that hung from the ceiling and dropped cool shadows on their respective walls. Here the tattewed dewds. Elsewhere whirling dervishes and acrobats. And oh, Kartell is in bed with Barbie now too. That cougar slut.

you wake up, and find that someone has realized your own inflatable dreams.

Reverend Ethan Acres
Face vs. Heel: The Battle for the Soul of John Travolta

This piece was created I guess 6 or so years ago already, but it struck a brand new chord with me today as I search for inflatable environments and accessories. Blessed greetings from Reverend Helen and weetu Germany.

Art Chicago - Jim Toia

                                                       Jim Toia - Untitled - 2008

Hey Chicago, This is the work of artist Jim Toia who is represented by the Kim Foster Gallery in NYC.  My friend Joe Biondo and I recently toured his studio at Lafayette College where we got to see the mushroom spore drawings up close and personal .  The image is an actual trace of mushroom spores released over a period of time and subjected to minor air flows between the contact paper and the coverings.  Not a photograph, not a drawing, sort of an organic mapping of the spore activity that results when three simple ingredients interact under his supervision.

You can catch his work at Art Chicago from May 1-4th.

It's about time?

Green, green, green.
Treehugger.com just launched their first annual "Best of Green" awards. We applaud the difficulty of assembling Darryl Hannah, compost toilets and quinoa under one big fat green umbrella. It's interesting AND educational. To voice your top picks, head to Treehugger to vote for the best of the best. Or, browse with buddies and make it a drinking game every time you see the word "green".

I never met a knitted clitoris I didn't love

For you textilers out there....

The Naomi Arin Contemporary Art just presented Yo Mama: Sheila Pepe and Friends an exhibition of new site specific work by artist Sheila Pepe, from February 20, 2009 through March 29, 2009. www.naomiarincontemporaryart.com

For Yo Mama, she has enlisted the participation of Southern Nevada-based artists and knitters to create individual pieces based on their own matrilineal heritage. Pepe provided each of the participants in the project a formula instructing them how to incorporate references to their mothers, grandmothers, and other maternal relatives into the knitted work. These individual pieces articulating the matrilineal history of numerous contributors will be interwoven with one another, resulting in one large installation.

Felt and embroidery piece!!!!!! from the upcoming show Big Rock Candy Mountain from April 3, 2009 through May 10, 2009.

Big Rock Candy Mountain is a familiar American Folk Song which describes a perfect world as imagined by hobos traveling the country during the early part of the 20th Century. The lyrics to this song express the humble aspirations of homeless and poverty-ridden people during the Great Depression. The imaginary place called Big Rock Candy Mountain represents the joyful setting where the singers wishes, no matter how modest or unrealistic, become real. The works featured in this exhibition address the artists colorful, fantastical, and dreamlike narratives.

"WEETU's on a Mexican - woah - Radio"

No, it's not a Wall of Voodoo-1982 cover band. WEETU launched a new
marketing and ad campaign for Illinois Coalition of Immigrant and
Refugee Rights (ICIRR) this month focused on encouraging legal
pathways to U.S. citizenship. The first part of this multil-lingual,
multi-year initiative will air throughout Chicagoland airwaves via
UNIVISION's family of radio stations. Collaborators include Martin
Nelson as editor and Jorge Orozco-Cordero (http:www.jorgeinc.com) as
Project Director. As reflected by its tagline of "Protect the Life
You Know (Protéje la Vida que Conoces)," the overall campaign concept
touches upon the real concerns that U.S Legal Permanent Residents
have around their tenuous U.S. residential status.

Below are fifteen-second and thirty-second Spanish versions of the
radio spots:
